Dodge County Sheriff's officials are investigating the thefts of veteran’s grave markers at two cemeteries. A total of 78 markers were taken from the Oakwood Cemetery on Highway 33 in the Town of Beaver Dam and Stone Hill Cemetery on County Highway E in the Town of Burnett. The markers had a total value of about $3,750. Other markers may also have been taken. The markers note the service of the deceased veterans and are placed near the headstone. They are made of brass, cut also cast iron or other valuable metals. They may be of value to recycling centers or second hand stores. Local scrap yards and recycling businesses have been contacted. Sheriff Pat Ninmann says investigators have developed some persons of interest. Anyone with information about possible suspects or the grave markers is asked to call the Sheriff's Office and ask for Detective Reissmann at (920) 386-3726.
