8 / 6 Sheriff Deputy Saves Man From Heroin Overdose

Lieutenant Marin Schulteis is releasing details to the media regarding a case the Washington County Sheriff’s Department dealt with involving a heroin overdose Friday night. According to the report,
at about 7:30 p.m, a 36-year-old Richfield man drove into a ditch on Highway 167 near the Richfield Truck Stop.  When the deputy arrived at the scene, he discovered the man was unconscious and he also noticed fresh injection marks on his arm and a heroin kit on the passenger seat. The man had stopped breathing so the deputy pulled him from the vehicle and started CPR. After about three minute of CPR, the man regained a weak pulse. When the Richfield Rescue crew arrived, Narcan was administered, which revived the man. He was then taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was medically cleared. The man was then arrested for fourth-offense OWI and possession of drug paraphernalia and booked into the Washington County Jail.
