8 / 7 Plice Apprehend 3 People for Thefts at Area Stores

Two men and one woman were arrested on Tuesday by West Bend Police on unrelated cases of retail theft. The first case happened around two fifteen. According to Lieutenant Michael Hartwell from the West Bend Police Department, the department received an anonymous complaint of two subjects hiding property in the bushes behind the Hallmark store.  As an officer approached the area, the two suspects split up and fled on foot.  After a foot pursuit and search of the area, a 21 year old West Bend man, was taken into custody in the parking lot of the Omicron restaurant.  A 21 year old female of Mequon, was found hiding in the restroom at Sally’s Beauty Supply and was also taken into custody.   The Investigation determined that the couple had stolen a large amount of wire valued at almost five hundred dollars from Home Depot on Paradise Drive and had been hiding it in the bushes.  The man was placed in jail for Retail Theft, Obstructing, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  The woman was placed in jail for Retail Theft, Obstructing, Bail Jumping, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 
 
The other case was reported to police just before nine pm. A 21 year old man and a 17 year old girl, both from West Bend, were stopped by loss prevention personnel at Walmart after leaving the store without paying for merchandise, with an estimated value of one hundred sixty dollars. When police arrived, the man was taken to jail on charges of Retail Theft and Bail Jumping. Charges of Retail Theft were referred on the female.
