8 / 13 House Fire in Town of Polk Causes $15,000 in Damages

A fire Tuesday night caused an estimated $15,000 in damages to a town of Polk home. According to a report from Lieutenant Robert Stuesser from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department the department was notified of a house fire at 3055 Western Avenue at around seven twenty. When deputies and members of the Jackson Fire Department got to the scene they noticed a moderate amount of smoke coming from the single-family home. Firefighters found and extinguished the small smoldering fire in one of the bedrooms. The cause of the fire is unknown, but it doesn’t appear to be incendiary in nature. Nobody was injured. Western Avenue between Highway P and Prairie Ridge Lane was restricted for about an hour and a half for cleanup operations. The fire is under investigation by the Sheriff’s office
