Two men with the same name, Dale Schmidt have something in common following Tuesday’s elections. Both men were elected to the office of Sheriff for the counties of Washington and Dodge. In Washington County, Dale K. Schmidt ran unopposed and despite a few write in ballots collected ninety nine percent of the vote to be re-elected. In neighboring Dodge County, another candidate named Dale Schmidt, defeated incumbent Dodge County Sheriff Pat Ninmann 4,613 to 4,303, according to unofficial totals released by the Dodge county clerk. Schmidt was hired in 2004 as a Dodge County Sheriff’s Department patrol deputy. Ninmann, was the first woman sheriff for Dodge County. She was appointed by Governor Scott Walker on April 5, 2013, after the retirement of Todd Nehls. Ninmann has been with the department since 1996 when she was hired as a communications officer, and subsequently promoted up thru the ranks.
