Three people from Milwaukee and one from Kenosha have been arrested and could face forgery charges in Washington County after they allegedly passed counterfeit bills in four West Bend businesses. According to Lieutenant Michael Hartwell from the West Bend Police Department, On Friday, a 27-year-old Milwaukee woman, two 30year-old Milwaukee men and a 22-year-old Kenosha woman were taken into custody by Saukville Police after attempting to pass a one hundred dollar counterfeit bill at a Piggly Wiggly in Saukville. The serial numbers on the bill matched serial numbers on counterfeit money the West Bend Police Department had. West Bend Police surveillance videos identified the suspects from counterfeit bills that were passed at West Bend businesses too, including Petco, MC Sports, Burger King and Family Dollar. Lieutenant Hartwell said forgery charges are being referred to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office. In a separate case Lieutenant Hartwell is reporting that Tuesday afternoon at three a 20 year old West Bend woman, was stopped after leaving the Pick n Save on South Main with merchandise she failed to pay for. She was detained by store authorities. The Police Department was contacted and the woman was issued a citation for Retail Theft.
