8 / 27 No Injuries Reported From Fire at Local Hotel

The West Bend Fire Department recorded a total of 14 incidents on Monday. Thirteen were basic EMS calls that excluded any major results. However, one call that firefighters responded to at the AmericInn Hotel on West Washington  resulted in ten thousand dollars in property damages and another five thousand dollars in contents loss or a total of $15,000 dollars. According to West Bend Fire Department Battalion Chief Chuck Beistle the department was called to the hotel about seven thirty because a hallway was filling with smoke. A hotel guest told a firefighter there was a fire in a room. When the firefighter got to the room there were small flames on the air conditioner unit. Beistle said the occupant of the room turned on the air conditioner, left the room and the air conditioner started on fire for an unknown reason. There were no injuries. Some people had to move into different rooms .
