8 / 28 New Piggly Wiggly Store coming to Hartford

Hartford area residents will soon be able to shop and sing the jingle " shop the Pig". According to the Daily News, it was announed at the end of the Hartford Commmon Council meeting on Tuesday night, that a new Piggly Wiggly grocery store will be opening in town later this year. Hartford Mayor Joe Dautermann, announced Pat Fox, who operates grocery stores in the area, informed him a Piggly Wiggly grocery store will open at the former Rueben’s County Market. The County Market, in Hilldale Plaza went out of business in July putting about 25 people out of work. Fox Brothers  currently operates a Piggly Wiggly store in Slinger. Dautermann said  Fox told him he hopes to open the new Hartford store sometime in early to mid-December. The mayor also said that “This is great for the community. “Their businesses have a proven track record of success and they are local businessmen, too.” A Piggly Wiggly store in the city will provide area residents with another option for their shopping.
