9 / 2 Seven Area Fire Departments Battle Blaze in Town of Hartford

Fire fighters with the Hartford Fire Department and six other community departments had their quiet Labor Day weekend interrupted on Monday night at around six fifty after the Washington County  Sheriff’s Office notified  them of a garage fire at 2820 Cedar Street in the Town of Hartford. Upon the arrival of deputies the attached garage was fully engulfed and the fire was spreading to the home. No one was home at the time the fire was discovered. Hartford Fire Department was assisted by the Neosho, Slinger , St. Lawrence , Allenton , Richfield, and  Woodland Fire Departments.  Lifestar Ambulance was also on the scene. The entire home suffered severe damage and is believed to be a complete loss. Damage estimates to the home are between $200,000 and $250,000.  According to the report, the family did lose their cat in the fire and the home did have working smoke detectors. The family is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire is unknown and the fire remains under investigation by the Hartford Fire Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
